Grameen Foundation broke new ground with Mifos as the first open source management information system (MIS) for microfinance. We, the community, are ready to assume the leadership role to enable an effective transition of Mifos. It is time for us to fully utilize the radically community-driven model that has brought us so far, and take the next step: recognizing that Mifos’ future is—and always has been—directly tied to the strength of its users, ecosystem, and contributors.  

We hope to realize this transition and continued operational success in the coming weeks and months through an open, democratic and iterative process and we need your support. This letter of support acknowledges that we support the formation of a new non-profit foundation to assume ownership of the platform and to unite and lead the community. Together we can grow a community that learns, shares, and creates success to enable microfinance to scale and empower poor women to raise themselves out of poverty.
