The Master Lever allows voters to cast a vote for one party when at the polls. While on the surface this seems efficient if people do only want to vote Democrat, Republican, or even Moderate. 

However, many times this results in under votes for those races that are non-partisan or even over votes when voters select a candidate in a particular race that is not the same candidate selected when the "pulled" the master lever. 

The issue has come before the Rhode Island General Assembly a number of times. In April 2014, the Senate Judiciary Committee decided to hold the bill for further study. This committee did the same thing in 2013. Apparently 365 days was not long enough to join with the followng eclectic group that has called for the removal of the Master Lever (per http://www.masterlever.org/):

Cranston Mayor Allan Fung

I'm asking you to sign this petition so that we can send a message to those in the General Assembly that they need to abolish the master lever. It needs to go.
