MBC must cease misreporting non-Koreans in Korea as immoral and dangerous
MBC must cease misreporting non-Koreans in Korea as immoral and dangerous
The Issue
Korea is rapidly becoming a home for many non-ethnic-Korean residents, such as migrant workers, English teachers, business persons, executives and various other professionals. Whereas, Korean media channels (particularly recently, MBC) has been profiling non-ethnic-Korean resident males in Korea as being in Korea merely to seduce Korean women, create social disorder and generally corrupt local morals.
This is a particularly distasteful approach to take in regard to all males who happen to me non-ethnic Koreans, merely because they are not Korean people, and particularly when conveyed strongly through government-funded TV broadcasting.
We, the undersigned, implore that any people in MBC who are in charge of/responsible for conceiving, compiling, interviewing for, editing, reporting and/or producing programming on MBC, Korea, use due writing, reporting and broadcasting standards which:
(1) reflect a balanced approach to representing the views of and REALITY actually involving the people/groups they attempt to represent/comment on; as well as
(2) duely regard the implications and impact of conveying such content.
