The dedicated trackpoint buttons are very effective in navigating the laptop GUI.  The existing "clickpad" system does not work reliably.

Please provide a configuration option for new Thinkpads that

1) restores the 3 trackpoint buttons; and

2) removes the trackpad altogether and restore the trackpoint buttons along with a full size 6th and 7th row on the keyboard.
