Currently the government is in Day 9 of shutdown, 800,000 federal workers are furloughed while our elected representatives are fully paid and engaging in sabre rattling, theatrics, rhetoric slinging, and other wastes of time.   Anything except working for the American people. As a result of this shutdown, cancer patients are not able to start the clinical trials that are their last hope of saving their lives, national parks and monuments are shut down at a cost of $76 million per day, with local communities who rely on park tourism for their economy feeling the loss the most, Head Start programs that kids desperately need are set to end, and if this idiocy does not stop in 8 days, the United States will start to default on loans.  And that's just off the top of my head.

I started this petition out of frustration and to get a message to our government: you are our elected representatives, and you are not doing your job.  Instead you are taking down the entire country while enslaved to bipartisanship.  Therefore, we need a fresh start.  We need representatives who will act in the best interests of the people who elected them, not blindly give in to party politics at the expense of all.  Please sign my petition, pledging not to vote for either a Democrat or Republican in the 2014 national election if the government is not running by October 17.  Let's get a government that will serve the people!
