An Azerbaijani civil rights activist in Iran

An Azerbaijani civil rights activist in Iran
The Issue
An Azerbaijani civil rights activist "Ms. Afsaneh Tughir” is in unsecure situation in Iranian prison! She was detained by Iranian intelligence service in 21ed Nay; her life is in serious danger as she was kept in unknown place!
Currently, lots of civil and cultural Azerbaijani activists have been arrested by the Iranian intelligence service. Since environmental activists in Urmia, Tabriz and some other cities started to protest against Iranian authority’s indifferences regarding Lake Urmia’s drought, the number of prisoners has been significantly increased. Most of them physically were tortured and some of them have been taken to unknown places.
"Afsaneh Tughir" is 21 years old and an Azerbaijani civil rights activist who is student in Agricultural engineering and member of “Azerbaijanology Centre” of Tabriz University. According to his brother “Ansar Tughir” who was interviewed by Azadligh radio, she was detained by the Iranian intelligence service in 21ed of May 2012. They have not been allowed, neither visit nor talk to her since her detention. None of Iranian authority gives any explanation regarding her health or security situation, the reasons of her detention and the place that she was kept.
Mr. Tughir said that, Afsaneh is a civil right activist and she participated in peaceful environmental protests against Lake Urmia’s drought in Tabriz University. Tughir’s family was told that they can not take a lawyer until her case has not been completed. There is no respect to rules and it does not work in reality. Her family seriously concerns about her safety and lives as Iranian government is not responsible about the rules and has a gloomy background in term of human rights.
Political, cultural and civil rights activist are regularly arrested by Iranian regime. They use violence, torture and keep them in horrible situation. Specifically, women are more vulnerable in Iran as they are extremely discriminated by Islamic regime. We refer to human rights activists and organizations to inform other related organizations in order to condemn Iranian regime and ask to release “Ms. Afsaneh Tughir”.
