Protect and support Belle Knox

The Issue

Recently, a student at Duke University by her adult actress name of "Belle Knox" has revealed herself to be a porn star. As a result, Knox has received threats, hateful messages, and has been harassed every day even before revealing herself to the public. However, Knox has rightfully refused to back down. Where people would expect the young lady to fold, she steeled herself, and in the process is bringing to light the painful double standard sex workers face.

Belle Knox isn't selling drugs, nor is she murdering anyone. She seems perfectly happy and she's not harming anyone in the process. Belle Knox is a human being who is in every way entitled to her right to do what she wishes. And we have no right nor claim to challenge that individual's freedom.

Her career has nothing to do with her education, except that it pays for an increasingly rising tuition. What she does with her body is also not for anyone to decide.

And to people who call her "the porn star" or "that porn actor/actress" (or even worse names I'm sure), she has a name you know, even if she doesn't choose to reveal it. She is a human being, with a name given to her by her family, with her own dreams, with things she enjoys and doesn't enjoy, with her own family, friends, and a life she's entitled to living without being harassed or threatened.

And to those who judge her for this, first she has done nothing wrong. And two, Jesus Christ has said it best in his own words, "Let he or she who is without sin cast the first rock."

So I challenge you, Duke University both staff, students and related peers to join in our cause to support this brave university student who is trying her best to survive in society. A few words of support and encouragement, a few actions to show that there are people who support her, or any way we can do to help to stop this, let us do so.

There is power in groups and individuals. Let us show society what each individual power can do.
