Expand Existing Residential Permit Parking Area

Expand Existing Residential Permit Parking Area

The Issue

In our ongoing endeavor to maintain the beauty and wellbeing of our neighborhood, we ask for your support to expand the existing residential parking Permit S area to include Buena Vista West from Upper Terrace to Central Ave., continuing on Central Ave. to Waller by signing this petition.  (See map for street detail).

The preferential residential parking system is designed to promote the safety, health and welfare of all San Francisco residents.  The main goal of the program is to provide more parking spaces for residents by discouraging long-term parking by people who do not live in the area.  (SFMTA Website 2013-14).

In addition to allowing residents of our neighborhood to park within proximity of their homes, residential permit parking is an essential part of our efforts to improve the cleanliness and safety of Buena Vista Park.  Because we are both next to Buena Vista Park and surrounded by streets with residential permit parking, our small slice of the neighborhood is presently a free, unrestricted, and long-term parking zone for non-residents spending  time in Buena Vista Park, Haight Street and surrounding areas, as well as neighbors on abutting permitted streets who choose not to purchase a permit.  We are the perfect candidate for residential permit parking.
