１月２６日に福岡高裁宮崎支部にて控訴審が開かれました。第３回口頭弁論で結審となり、判決言い渡しは４月の２４日となります。原告側は、侵食が進んでいない浜での侵食対策事業は違法だとし、公金支出差止等を請求しています。

嘉徳浜では侵食は進んでいません。

検討委員会では議論の前提事実が不十分でした。

住民への説明も不十分です。

護岸設置予定の位置は海岸工学の専門家から逆に侵食を招くと警告が出されています。

嘉徳浜での護岸工事は、一度立ち止まって再検討すべきです。

On January 26th, 2024,  the third appeal hearing was scheduled at the Miyazaki Branch of the Fukuoka High Court.

The court is questioning the legality of the erosion control project on a beach that is not receding (constant sand accretion on the beach and dune for the last 9 years) and is seeking an injunction against the use of public funds.

At Katoku Beach, erosion has not advanced, rendering the basis of the review committee's discussion inadequate. Furthermore, the explanations provided to residents have been insufficient and deceitful.

Several experts in coastal engineering have raised concerns, warning that the proposed seawall and its location on a dynamic area of the beach will induce real erosion. Contrary to disinformation perpetrated by the prefecture, that the seawall will be placed "on land side" (as reported to the villagers and to the IUCN in 2019 and 2020), the true position of the planned seawall is on the beach side, past the line where morning glories and vegetation can grow for any extended length of time.

It is imperative to halt and reassess this deceitful revetment work at Katoku beach before the beach and dune are destroyed and the village robbed of a future.
