
Thank you for your support. We are reporting some slight improvement in the state of restraints in Japan.
The Japan "630 report" has just come out for the number of people in seclusion and restraints in Japanese psychiatric hospitals on 30 June 2024. There has been a small but significant drop in the number of people in restraints. In looking at other indications, it seems that it is the number of people without dementia who are in restraints that are dropping this year. So, there is some possibility that the effort to reduce restraints is succeeding a little bit.
This years numbers are 12,367 people in seclusion (solitary confinement; 1.2 % below the previous year) and 10,062 in restraints (6.5% below the previous year).
