ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ වනජීවී සම්පත ආරක්ෂා කරනු!
ගයාන් සඳකැලුම් (සහස්‍රමුඛ රාවණ)ගේ මෙහෙයවීමෙන් සහ නායකත්වයෙන් ආරම්භ කරන ලද මෙම ජාතික හා මාර්ගගත පෙත්සම් ව්‍යාපාරය, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ උසම සහ මහිමාන්විතම වනගහන උරුමකරුවෙකු වූ කාවන්තිස්ස ඇතුගේ ඛේදනීය මරණයට එරෙහිව පූර්ණ නීතිමය සාධාරණත්වය ඉල්ලා සිටියි.
සැප්තැම්බර් අග භාගයේදී එල්ල වූ අමානුෂික වෙඩි ප්‍රහාරයකින් පසු හටගත් සංකූලතා හේතුවෙන්, වනජීවී පශු වෛද්‍යවරුන් විසින් සිදුකළ යම් යම් උත්සාහයන් මධ්‍යයේ වුවද කාවන්තිස්ස ඇතු සියාඹලංගමුව ප්‍රදේශයේදී මිය ගියේය. මෙය ස්වාභාවික මරණයක් නොවේ. එය ආරක්ෂිත වනජීවී සම්පතකට එරෙහිව සිදුකරන ලද අමානුෂික අපරාධයකි.
ලංකාවේ පිරිමි අලින්ගෙන් දළ හිමි ඇතුන් සිටින්නේ 2% කටත් වඩා අඩු සංඛ්‍යාවකි. මෙවැනි දුර්ලභ ඇතුන් නීති විරෝධී වෙඩි තැබීම් නිසා අහිමි වීම අපගේ ජෛව විවිධත්වයට එල්ල වන දැඩි තර්ජනයකි. ගයාන් සඳකැලුම් (සහස්‍රමුඛ රාවණ) සමඟ අත්වැල් බැඳගන්නා සමස්ත ජනතාව වෙනුවෙන් අපි පහත ඉල්ලීම් ඉදිරිපත් කරමු.

කාවන්තිස්ස ඇතුට වෙඩි තැබූ සියලුම පුද්ගලයන් වහාම හඳුනාගෙන, අත්අඩංගුවට ගෙන නීතිය හමුවට පමුණුවන ලෙස පොලිස්පතිතුමාගෙන් සහ වනජීවී සංරක්ෂණ දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවෙන් අපි ඉල්ලා සිටිමු.
නීතියෙන් උපරිම දඬුවම් ලබාදීම
වනසත්ව හා වෘක්ෂලතා ආරක්ෂක ආඥාපනත යටතේ කිසිඳු බලපෑමකින් තොරව අපරාධකරුවන්ට උපරිම දඬුවම් ලබාදිය යුතුය.
ඉතිරි ඇතුන් සඳහා විශේෂ ආරක්ෂක වැඩපිළිවෙලක්
ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ඉතිරිව සිටින සීමිත වනජීවී ඇතුන් ආරක්ෂා කිරීම සඳහා පැය 24 පුරා ක්‍රියාත්මක වන විශේෂ නිරීක්ෂණ සහ ආරක්ෂක බළකායක් වහාම ස්ථාපිත කරනු.
නීති විරෝධී ගිනිඅවි තහනම් කිරීම
වනජීවී කලාප තුළ නීති විරෝධී ගිනිඅවි සහ උගුල් තහනම් කරමින්, වනඅලීන් සහ ඇතුන් රැකගැනීමේ දිගුකාලීන ජාතික ප්‍රතිපත්තියක් වහා ක්‍රියාත්මක කරනු.

Initiated and led by Gayan Sandakalum (Sahasramukha Ravana), this national and online petition movement demands full legal justice for the tragic death of Kavantissa, one of Sri Lanka’s tallest, most magnificent, and iconic wild tuskers.
In late September, Kavantissa was brutally shot. Despite dedicated efforts by wildlife veterinarians to treat the severe complications from the gunshot injuries, the majestic tusker tragically succumbed in the Siyambalangamuwa area. This was not a natural death—it was a brutal crime against a protected wildlife icon.
Fewer than 2% of Sri Lanka’s male elephant population are tuskers. Losing such rare and grand tuskers to illegal shootings poses a severe threat to our rich biodiversity. Standing united with Gayan Sandakalum (Sahasramukha Ravana) and the citizens of Sri Lanka, we present the following urgent demands
Our Key Demands
Immediate Arrest of the Culprits
We call upon the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Department of Wildlife Conservation to immediately identify, arrest, and bring to justice all individuals involved in shooting King Kavantissa Tusker.
Maximum Punishment Under the Law
The perpetrators must face the strictest penalties possible under the Fauna and Flora Protection Ordinance, free from any political or external influence.
Special Protection Program for Remaining Tuskers
Establish an immediate 24/7 special surveillance and task force to protect the very few remaining wild tuskers in Sri Lanka.
Strict Ban on Illegal Firearms & Long-Term Policy
Implement a strict ban on illegal firearms and deadly traps in wildlife zones, along with a comprehensive national policy for the long-term conservation of wild elephants and tuskers.
