🔥 Grant Toll Tax Exemption to Ex-Servicemen — Let Respect Go Beyond Chairs and Titles 🔥
MPs, MLAs, and people holding important positions are granted toll tax exemptions, but ex-servicemen who have sacrificed their youth for 20–25 years defending the nation are not.
This petition is not about money; it is about honour and national gratitude.
We request the present government to take this matter seriously. The bravery and sacrifices of soldiers should not be limited merely to vote-bank politics.
🔥 In India today, MPs, MLAs, and certain constitutional authorities are given toll tax exemptions in the name of “respect.”
It is deeply unfortunate that ex-servicemen—who dedicate their youth, health, and family life to the nation’s defence—are deprived of this respect.
🔥 A soldier serves for 20–25 years in icy borders, scorching deserts, dense forests, and extremely difficult terrain.
He stays away from festivals, children, and family, risking his life every moment for the country.
Yet, after retirement, when the same soldier becomes an ordinary citizen, he is charged full toll tax on the very roads of the nation he defended.
If toll tax exemption is a symbol of honour, then ex-servicemen deserve this honour before anyone else.
🔥 This attitude reminds us of an inhuman colonial-era mindset, when loyal dogs that served in dog squads were rewarded with a bullet after completing their service—paid for their loyalty with their lives.
🔥 We demand that all ex-servicemen be granted toll tax exemption in a conditional and regulated manner, such as:
• Minimum military service as per initial terms of engagement / medically boarded out with service benefits
• Param Vir Chakra / Kirti Chakra awardees
• Vehicle must be registered in the name of the ex-serviceman
• Presence of the ex-serviceman in the vehicle is mandatory
• Limited to 1–2 private vehicles only
• For personal use only; no commercial or transport subsidy
🇮🇳 This decision is neither impractical nor a major burden on revenue.
Rather, it would be a policy step that converts the nation’s true gratitude into action.
🇮🇳 This petition clearly states that the demand is not for financial benefit, but for a symbolic acknowledgment of the nation’s gratitude and respect for its soldiers.
🙏 I appeal to all fellow Indians: if you believe this honour for our ex-servicemen is justified, please offer your valuable support. 🙏
👉 Please sign this petition and become the voice of respect for our ex-servicemen.
With sincere regards,
🙏 Wing Commander Anand Kumar (Retd)
