To all who live in Unity Township residential neighborhoods ,there is an urgent need for you to sign this petition against allowing chickens in our neighborhoods. Currently, I am faced with a neighbor in Lawson Heights who has chickens and roosters and three chicken structures. It is already posted on the Unity Township website that chickens are not permitted in residential neighborhoods, however this neighbor is trying to get the zoning ordinances changed to allow her chickens and roosters to stay. We have lost our nice quiet peaceful neighborhood. What we now have to endure is the constant roosters crowing waking us up at the crack of dawn, predator animals now coming into our neighborhood ( we just had a bobcat from scent of the chickens),  our pet dogs now need to be retrained and can’t run freely in their yards because now they want to only go after the chickens, and most importantly the loss to our property value. No one would ever buy a home next to screeching roosters and stinky chickens! If zoning is allowed to change for our neighborhoods to allow chickens, what’s next? What’s to prevent someone putting pigs next door or goats down the street. These are residential neighborhoods not rural farmland.  If it can happen in my neighborhood it can happen in yours. Pease sign this petition... keep Unity Township neighborhoods residential!!!
