Jiawen Zhang ripped a defenceless kittens teeth and claws out after putting the kitten named  "Cinders" into a hot oven and then tried to drown it. The torture only stopped when Zhang's roommate arrived room and rushed the kitten to the vet. Despite the serious nature of this crime Magistrate Terry Gardiner sentenced Zhang to 6 months jail "with immediate parole."   The community is outraged at the leniency of this sentence and the message it sends to would be abusers. We call on you to have the crown appeal the sentence on the basis of inadequacy.
