I wanted to post a new video because there has been a very hot take and topic on Twitter recently.
But first, in the video, I discuss two quick news regarding Zwei Remake and Panzer Dragoon Remake on PS4 in Japan.
Back to the main topic:
Wildman - the maker of Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record - started communicating that if we wanted to see * AZEL return *, we should * support Panzer Dragoon Voyage Record *.
While I wish Voyage Record great success on its own, I seriously question this reasonning. How can a VR game allow SEGA to gauge interest and potential for a AZEL re-release? Why would the first two games not be more relevant? Yes they are rail shooters but at least, they are playable by a larger audience (PC + all consoles) when the VR space is a lot smaller and a lot more niche.
This dangerous way of communicating feels like baiting fans, emotionally blackmailing them.
I think this is:
1/ a mistake in communication
2/ showing amateurism in the field of PR
I discuss all this in the video so please support me and watch in full before providing some feedback. I need to understand if you agree or disagree. We are a community.
So far, I have seen people express similar views for the overwhelming majority. Some others consider this miscommunication which it might very well be. But they are the developers, they need to pay attention to what they say.
And they need to stop talking and instead show us more of the VR game. The main problem here is that WIldman is doing something Forever Entertainment never did: saying "support my game if you want to see AZEL return". This isn't cool at all. If you don't give more details, don't say that.
You will find this subjects matters a lot to me as AZEL deserves a proper re-release. With a proper comprehension of why the game was not more popular. SEGA has a responsibility here but more importantly, the AZEL game has value and can reach a larger audience these days if re-released smartly.
