Please keep in mind that there is a small group of users who try to support the AI policy, and bully others for simply thinking they are "rude" when they give out constructive criticism. I just saw a post on the r/YouTube subreddit today about it.

We'll debunk claims:

  1. YouTube won't require IDs to verify your age, and you don't understand that!

Alright, even if it is optional, and will be one of the three options (IDs, selfies, credit card), It does still pose security risks, as many people may resort to it without knowing the security risks, Some people may not know how credit card or face-scanning works, so, they may just have to resort to IDs, regardless if it's required or not. We all've read the update, and yes, IDs are optional, but it still poses privacy risks, along with possible loopholes. They don't care about a security breach, which is definitely what we should care about, too, It makes sense for us to be worried about it. Not just that, but the loophole concerns.

2. YouTube users don't carefully read it, and YT is clear.

Yes, we've all carefully read it, but we're concerned about the loophole and security risks, not the intentions. We all do understand that IDs are optional, but many people will still resort to it, and the loophole and security risks are still clear.

3. It's completely okay for YouTube to do this. No one cares if there's a security/data breach.

No, it's not, The loophole and security risks matter, and many laws have failed in the past simply due to being ineffective by having loopholes. A 14-year old who wants to watch NSFW will either:

  1. Use Fake IDs to bypass the ID requirements, or commit ID fraud. (for IDs)
  2. Put up makeup and accessories to look as old as possible, or make fake face pictures via AI (for selfie-scanning)
  3. Commit credit card fraud, or make fake credit cards. (For credit cards).
  4. Use VPNs (may possibly work, but unknown)

See, some of these loopholes are actually illegal, and people should care about it.

And yes, we should care about a data breach, It's something to care about, because it still outweighs the positives. Think about this; What if someone has three options, they choose IDs, and that ID gets sent to Google? There's a high chance that data may be sold to doxxers, and stalkers, and Google may spy on us.

I'll list an example of some toxic person being rude to an innocent person for "being rude and cyberbullying" when all they were giving out is constructive advice;

This is not okay, This is against the "Harassment or violent behavior" rule of the Google Help Community's content policy.

Stay safe, and don't listen to these toxic supporters! Try sharing this petition as much as possible!
