Signatories! Thank you so much for taking the time to endorse this petition. Your support and comments inspire me, and I hope they will inspire change in Marin County land managers. There are now more than 1100 signers. It is time to take this petition to the Marin County board of supervisors, as well as the Marin County Open Space District board of directors. I will begin by taking our petition to their meeting on January 10th, at 10:30am in the Marin County Civic Center Board of Supervisors Chamber. This meeting matters. It’s the last opportunity to put trail access items for 2017 into the agenda. This will affect Region 3 plans. I am calling on all of you to help me deliver your petition. Let’s back up our signatures with our voices and presence. Every mountain biker present at the meeting is allotted several minutes to publicly address the board. Come; speak your mind. Be a witness for the need for more trails, and more access to trails. I want you to show up, so that we can read out the names of each and every signer of this petition. I want you to show up, so that each and every comment can be read. I want you to show up, to make the board realize just how many of us care about this issue. Let’s not sit on the sidelines any longer. Let’s come together and engage the land managers, and demand the change that we seek. On a related note - the powerful response to this petition calls for further action. My friends and I have organized a new trail advocacy group for Marin County. We are calling ourselves the New Paradigm Trail Group, in deference to the original Paradigm Trail Builders that are our spiritual predecessors. Our mission is to increase mountain bike trail access, creation, and stewardship in Marin. We seek to preserve existing trials, build new ones, and unite our cycling user group and other user groups. We will demand equal access on all trails, from all land managers in Marin county, including MMWD. Our methods will include continued petitions, individual meetings with managers, Critical Mass rides, sit-ins/protests/filibusters at board meetings, sticker campaigns. If change is not seen, we will raise money to consider legal action against the landmanagers for discriminating against the mountain bike user group in an arbitrary and capricious fashion. Thank you again for signing the petition, and for inspiring me to continue this advocacy. Please join me on January 10th at 10:30am at the Marin County Civic Center Board of Supervisors Chamber to deliver the petition, read the signatures, read the comments. Speak, witness, protest. Preserve, build, unite.
