Delivering on the objectives of Paris Agreement - “holding the increase in the global average temperature to well below 2 degrees [Celsius] above pre-industrial levels, and to pursue efforts to limit the temperature increase to 1.5 degrees [Celsius] above pre-industrial levels” - will require all cities to take transformational actions to reduce transportation emissions, improve building energy efficiency, ­increase the supply of green energy, and change consumption patterns, while strengthening the ability to deal with the impacts of climate change through adaptation. Deadline 2020 sets out the level of ambition and urgency needed to ensure cities deliver on the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
