An appeal to Mr. Modi           April 28, 2019

Dear Mr.Modi,

I trust this letter finds you well.

It would not matter to you who I am. I just happen to be one of the millions of Indians who had the trust and faith in you for a better India and voted for you.

While you have been making changes to make India the Super Power you want her to be, and have been concentrating on a whole lot of things, you seem to have missed out the core of what India was and what she should be. 

India was a country known for worshipping animals and believing in Ahimsa. Our great bygone Rulers were so. And so was the Father of our Nation. He had so beautifully stated, “the greatness of a Nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way it treats its animals.” This was actually one of the main reasons which lured the Foreign tourists to India. India was mythical, enigmatic and a place where animals were worshipped and loved. It was a land of Ahimsa.

Unfortunately, the India of today is a far cry from this. It pains me so much to see the cruelty that is taking place to animals every day in India. I am a common person, who moves about on the streets, and sees these horrible acts of cruelty happening, I am pained so much that I am forced to pen this mail to you. There is no one or no authority I can turn to stop these inhuman, gruesome acts. Everyday I pray and hope things will change but it is not happening so. Right from neighbours who poison and ill-treat the pets of  animals lovers. The cruel and heartwrenching way the butchers who slaughter goats and sheep and chicken in front of school going children and sadly even if front of the animal’s own babies, on roadside shops, the path used by us everyday. Can you imagine the impact it can have on the children emotionally? These horrifying acts will remain in their subconscious minds all their lives, killing them either softly or making them hardhearted and cruel too, with no empathy at all. Is this the future we want for our India? People have become so inhuman and deranged that even animals are getting raped by them?

I know you are a very busy man, but you have got to stop this cruelty and do something to make our India, the country that we would be proud to call as ours. A country that preaches Ahimsa.

Can you please be the first PM in the world who will stop cruelty to animals and bring out a law that people who are cruel to animals and abuse them, will be dealt with in the same manner and under the same rules as human Law?

And please bring out a Law that butchers must have designated areas only, to slaughter and sell meat, away from households and schools.

Mr.Modi, if you were to bring about a change like this to India, remember, you will go down the annals of History, as the beloved PM who made India the way she has been known earlier and the way she has to be. A land of Ahimsa. You will be forever remembered. Like Mahatma Gandhiji. Kindly create this Modi Movement.

Please give a voice to the Voiceless animals.

You will be the example that the whole world will follow and we will soon have a beautiful world without any cruelty to animals.
