This place matters! The 1893 Sandlass house (SH 600) is located at a heritage tourism site in the New Jersey Sandy Hook Historic Landmark District at the Gateway National Recreation Area as a non-contributing structure. This home authentically represents the stories and people of the past. Tourism at this site in the form of an Airbnb would allow visitors to experience the home as the last remaining artifact of the 1888 Golden Era Highland Beach excursion resort. This cultural and historical remnant is the only remaining trace of a seventy-five-year resort history (1888-1963) at the northernmost point of the Jersey Shore on the Sandy Hook peninsula.
