Petition updateBan the Sale of Elephant Ivory in Canada #IvoryFreeCanadaWe Dare You To Take The Elephant Trumpet Challenge!
The Ivory-Free Canada Coalition
Jul 7, 2020

Hello and thank you once again for signing the #IvoryFreeCanada petition to end the import, domestic sale, and export of elephant ivory in Canada.

It has been a frightening year so far, but we have some good news! We were finally granted a phone meeting with a government policy advisor and we are encouraged by the discussion. There is still plenty of work to do, and the most important is showing the government this is what people want!

The petition is almost at 600,000 signatures! The Ivory-Free Canada Coalition wants to present one million signatures to the government on World Elephant Day, August 12. That’s not far away so we launched the Elephant Trumpet Challenge to Make It A Million Signatures! Show us your loudest, proudest trumpet for change.

The Elephant Trumpet Challenge is fun and incredibly easy:

1.  Record a video of yourself demonstrating your best elephant trumpet. Extra points for added humour, costumes or props. Really let yourself go like a big tusker! Laughing is allowed.

2.  Here is an example of what you can say in the video, but feel free to wing it, as long as you mention the petition and nominate someone. Attached is the script and the sign you need to hold up in the video. If a friend holds the script just below your cell camera, you don’t have to memorize it.

“I’m taking the Elephant Trumpet Challenge to save elephants. Please sign the petition (show the sign) to Make It A Million signatures by World Elephant Day. Here’s my best trumpet…..  I nominate ____ and ____ .”

3.  Upload your video first onto facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram. Then write a funny post and copy/paste this at the end: Please sign and share the petition at www.change.org/IvoryFreeCanada #MakeItAMillion

4. Keep checking the petition to see when we reach one million signatures.

Here is an example of an Elephant Trumpet Challenge video. https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=614183966173824 If you are too shy to trumpet you will help the elephants a lot by sharing this video on your social media.

Thank you in advance for participating. We know we will Make It A Million for the elephants with your much-appreciated help! If you have any questions, feel free to email us at elephanaticsinfo@gmail.com.

Many thanks,
