YU Releases Fall 2022 COVID-19 Protocols

This morning, Yeshiva University announced their Fall 2022 COVID-19 protocols. Notably, they dropped the booster mandate (for most students) that they had put in place prior to Spring 2022, saying: “they [the boosters] appear to offer little added protection against contracting or spreading the virus.”

This is not new information. The science has not changed. When YU announced the booster mandate on December 30, 2021, it was widely known that even boosted individuals could catch and spread COVID-19. Yet, even after requiring students’ initial vaccination prior to Fall 2021, YU unilaterally forced their students to take the booster, at threat of expulsion.

While rescinding the booster requirement is clearly a full-throated admission of bad policy, the administration has not yet apologized for coercing their students into taking it. But the students — and their parents — haven’t forgotten.
