Save the Grizzly and cubs suspected of killing Yellowstone hiker.
The Issue
The death of 63-year-old Lance Crosby is a terrible tragedy. However, killing the female Grizzy bear and her cubs that are suspected in the killing is NOT the solution to rectify Crosby's death, nor is it the correct means to prevent future attacks.
We plead that Yellowstone National Park Superintendent Dan Wenk respect the natural aspects of wilderness and the dangers associated with it, and understand that it is not up to mankind to sanitize nature or destroy every creature that poses a risk toward the safety of human life. In this natural setting, humans must respect the power of nature and learn from it, study it, and cherish it, even in the darkest of moments such as Crosby's death.
Thousands of bears are killed globally every year by humans, however this attack on a human was a rare incident, with the last death occurring in 2011. Humans must acknowledge the sanctity of all life forms, and that extermination is never the answer in mankind's pursuit toward progression, compassion, and understanding.
