Today, is an incredibly sad day for Yamhill county.

Contrary to the wishes of the majority of Yamhill Citizens, Commissioners Berschauer and Starrett bowed to special interests and voted to drop the land use application, effectively killing the Yamhelas-Westsider trail. 

In a rude, factually inaccurate, and poorly prepared rant, Commissioner Bershauer, whose election campaign was heavily funded by opponents of the trail, repeatedly attacked county employees.

I am saddened and dismayed for the future of Yamhill County under this board's leadership, but I do not think, not by a long-shot, that our efforts to raise our voices in support of the trail were in vain. 

In the coming week I'll be sharing some action items you can all take to tell the board of commissioners how you feel about them selling off our representation to private interests. 

Until then, get outside, go for a hike, enjoy our singularly beautiful countryside. Hug your kids, or loved ones. I know I'll be hugging mine.
