Just a note to let you know that the petition has been updated as a call for transparency from the NHS board. They currently are required to answer to their members of which there were only 20 before last week...now 25.
Of the 25 members, 8 are board members and many others are friends of board members. There is no where on the website that mentions membership or a place to purchase one. As a community partner we regret not paying more attention. We blindly handed over our money, time, energy and advocacy. We did that because of our confidence in Shanika. Little did we know what was going on behind the scenes. We are now reminded of the importance of being a member of the NHS and having our say in how the board operates and how finances are handled. It is the best way to advocate on behalf of the animals and employees of the Northumberland Humane Society.
We encourage all concerned community members to purchase your membership as soon as possible.
