I recently visited Prague Zoo, and while there was deeply saddened to see two polar bears, in a small, dirty looking enclosure. Not only was the enclosure far too small to accommodate these beautiful animals, but there seemed to be no effort to ensure their home at the zoo looked even slightly similar to what their real life environment would.

The first Polar Bear was pacing up and down the concrete, while the other swam in a narrow strip of water. As many have stated, Polar Bears are one species that should really not be kept in captivity. They have been known to suffer from more phsyical and psychologically related illnesses than other animals kept in captivity. 

Understandably, environmental threats such as the melting of ice caps have meant that the protection of Polar Bears has never been more imperative. It is wonderful to know that we are trying our best to save this species. However, what life is there for a Polar Bear living in a box. I am hoping that from this Petition, Prague zoo can either release their bears back into the wild, or make a much greater effort to ensure their enclosure at the zoo is MUCH larger, more stimulating and most importantly, more lifelike for these poor animals.
