WV Public Employees Insurance Agency lacks the money to be fully funded for all State Workers who depend on these benefits. Proposed legislation would elevate WV’s Natural Gas Severance Tax, however House and Senate Leadership have voted this option down due to special interests. WV sits on top of wells of natural gas and many financial reports conclude that raising this tax for large companies coming in to extract OUR natural resources by as little as 3% would provide a permanent funding solution for the health insurance that covers all of WV’s state workers.
