🚨 THE COURT SAW THROUGH IT.

Today, the Orange County DA argued that the Racial Justice Act’s accountability mechanism—Penal Code §745(k)—is unconstitutional. They claimed the bias in Chazz’s trial was “harmless.”

The judge was not persuaded.

The court repeatedly read the statute back to the prosecution: once an RJA violation is proven, the state must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the bias did not contribute to the judgment.

When pressed on how they could possibly meet that burden, the DA could only point to the same “overwhelming evidence” of guilt. The judge questioned how that alone could erase the documented racial bias in Chazz’s trial.

Then came the key moment:

The court asked the DA how the expert witness’s statement—“Pimps are generally black”—was not an RJA violation.

The DA had no real answer.

They deferred to the court, claiming even if violations were found, the “overwhelming evidence” satisfied their burden. The court’s skepticism was palpable.

The result?

A continuance. The matter will resume on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.

Our defense team is confident. The DA has been given a burden they cannot meet.

To every supporter who came to the courthouse today, and to everyone who held space in spirit—thank you.

You bore witness. You showed the system it is being watched.

This fight is not over. But today, justice leaned forward.

We’ll be back on March 3rd.
