The Issue

Hello,my name is Evie . I care passionately about animals and the environment. I did a sponsored litter pick over my Easter holidays to raise money for Borneo Nature Trust and I raised £270.

My aunt sent my mum an email ( for me ) with an attachment of a newspaper cutting and the article was about hunting rights for 500 elephants in Zimbabwe! The reason was so they could carry on paying the people who worked at the National Parks and their jobs is to look after animals like elephants!!!They made the offer due to lockdown restrictions and foreign tourists not being able to travel however that isn't a reason to decide to give permission  to kill one of the worlds most known mammals just so rich people can have a pair of tusks in their living room.

As well as elephants, there should be no hunting of any animal, especially endangered species like rhino and leopards.According to the IUCN Red List, the two subspecies of elephants that have declined the most Forest elephants have fallen by more than 86% over 31 years and Savanna elephants have fallen more than 60% in half a century.
