Following recent revelations in the local press it has become clear that the Deputy Mayor of Workington, David King, is a conman who was twice convicted of swindling thousands of pounds from vulnerable women and sentenced to four years in prison.

His wife, Janet King, was fully aware of her husband's criminality, and she is now the Mayor of Workington.

None of this information was available to the public when voting at local elections.

We the undersigned believe that Mr & Mrs King are unfit to hold public office and should resign from their positions as councillors immediately.
