Dear supporters, Thanks again for signing my petition to stop Coles and Woolworths profiting from lads’ mag Zoo which instructs boys how to coerce girls to get what they want, among other things. It’s been great to see it surging forward since I first launched it. It’s hard to believe but I haven’t yet had a formal reply from Coles and Woolworths. There have only been some weak replies to individuals. That’s it! And it’s not good enough. They may hope we’ll just go away – but we won’t! We need to step up the pressure. I’ve just received some inside news that something is afoot. I‘m waiting for more details about pressure being applied internally to dump the mag from one of these companies. If what I’m hearing comes to pass, it could mean a big announcement very soon! So, until I can tell you more, please keep sharing the petition with everyone you know. Contact Coles and Woolworths and let them know that belly bands and merchandising away from the counter is not good enough. We want them to discontinue stocking it altogether. These corporates can’t claim to be ethically responsible and to care for our communities when they continue to profit from this ‘men’s lifestyle’ rag which teaches boys to treat girls badly. Here’s an updated piece in the Daily Mail from yesterday http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-3167682/Woolworths-Coles-petitioned-stop-selling-men-s-magazine-Zoo-protesters-claim-promotes-rape-culture.html Thanks for your support, Laura Pintur and Collective Shout
