Council notes that “….the Amendment Site is not large enough for a full-line supermarket.”
- 2011 Panel report (Amendment C76).
Planning Objection Deadline:
The plans and documents for the proposal are available until 23rd May, 2016 (see link in the petition). However, council must consider all objections up until the decision is made (confirmed with council). Andy Wilson (andy.wilson@banyule.vic.gov.au) has also confirmed that a decision is likely to be made in June (either 14th or 27th council meetings) by a vote of all the councillors.
Note, that there is an additional piece of land that Fabcot (Woolworths) wish to purchase belonging to the library. The plans show the Douglas St access would be widened for delivery vehicles. Documents are available on Meeting Agenda for 18th April, 2016.

This piece of land will also be discussed and decided at an upcoming council meeting.
Next steps:
1. Ensure the best impact is made by objecting to the plans based on the detrimental effects on location, community and individuals. (More info to come)
2. Making our views clear to all Banyule councillors (would they object to large supermarkets in their wards in areas such as Eaglemont, Ivanhoe East, Montmorency or Macleod?)
3. Allowing for a greater impact by gaining support for the petition
4. Attending council meetings as a show of support
Upcoming council meetings where this proposal will be discussed and/or decided:
30th May (Mon)
14th June (Tue) – after Queens Birthday weekend
27th June (Mon)

The meeting agenda is available on the Friday preceding each meeting.
Also FYI:
I was made aware there was a representation made at a recent council meeting from the Rosanna Traders Association (unconfirmed)with a statement to the affect that they were not concerned regarding the proposal. After speaking with some of the retailers, my understanding is that there was no meeting or discussion on this proposal and that any statement made was not known or endorsed by the group as a whole. I am aware of a number of retailers that are very concerned and have lodged objections directly to council.
