Ban supermarkets wrapping fruit and vegetables in plastic unnessecarily.

This petition had 16,872 supporters

Big brand supermarkets such as Safeway (Woolworths) and Coles are contributing immensely to our plastic waste problem we currently face. It is damaging our environment and killing our wildlife and marine life, that is not to mention the affect it is having on ourselves. Chemicals added to plastic and absorbed by human bodies.. And we are buying these plastic filled kids lunch packs!!

Wrapping fruits such as bananas, oranges, avocados, mandarins, tomatoes, even wrapping "organic" vegetables is completely avoidable and unnecessary. It is a cost saving measure, but at what cost is it impacting our environment and ourselves? How much plastic rubbish do you collect after doing a fruit & vegetable shop at your local supermarket now? You could fill an entire waste bin with plastic alone.

I ask you to please sign this petition, small steps lead to big changes and we have the power to protect our planet and save killing innocent marine life.
