Sascha Ettinger started this petition to Woollahra Municipal Council

The residents of Woollahra Municipality would like to show our support for our unique and wonderful local mature tree canopy. We wish to urge Council to retain all mature trees by whatever means possible.

For our resident London Plane trees, we request that pollarding be undertaken when required, to avoid removal of mature trees. Although not native, these majestic trees with their huge canopies are incredibly valuable for shade, cooling, wildlife habitat, filtering air, carbon sequestration and aesthetic beauty and enhancing real estate prices.

Given how long trees take to grow and with weather continuing to get hotter, we regard every tree in our area as an ASSET and believe all measures should be taken to protect and conserve what already exists. We also support an increase in plantings, in accordance with the motion passed by Council to implement mandatory canopy increases.

***This Channel Bill Cuckoo was photographed by Hal Epstein in one of our local fig trees... we coexist with amazing birdlife!

***THANKS SO MUCH TO THOSE WHO HAVE GENEROUSLY DONATED MONEY HOWEVER THIS MONEY IS REQUESTED BY CHANGE.ORG AND DOES NOT GO TO ME OR TREES! IT GOES TO FURTHER CIRCULATING THE PETITION.
