Equally recognize girls and women in sports at the HealthEast Sports Center in Woodbury,MN
The Issue
During a recent soccer practice at Healtheast Sports Center, my 8-year-old daughter pointed to the silhouette images of 6 all-male athletes prominently displayed on the exterior of the facility and asked, "Daddy, why aren't there any girls?" The skewed representation is also reflected by paintings on the interior of the facility. Thousands of girls and women utilize this publicly owned facility, and deserve equal representation; anything less sends the wrong message to our girls and our community. The City of Woodbury owns the facility and has the ability to change the silhouettes. Healtheast sponsors the facility and can help the City find a solution. Please help us convey to our elected representatives and local business leaders that honoring and recognizing girls and women in sports is an important priority.
