I am just posting this update to confirm that although the petition will remain open, it seems that the Coronavirus has sealed the slim chance we had of convincing Wood Green to keep Heydon open.
Wood Green have said “I also think it is important for you to know that due to the current situation there is no debate around Heydon closing now.
Like every charity in the UK, Wood Green has lost income from key sources (the charity shops and our face to face fundraising has stopped and people are understandably supporting other charities or functions like the NHS as a priority) and, like all animal charities, Wood Green is not eligible for support from the government. Therefore, we are currently very busy looking at the best ways to minimise the impact of Coronavirus on Wood Green. In hindsight, our decision to close London and Heydon is even more important for the charity than we knew at the time”
Whilst I personally do not believe all of this to be strictly true, they are going to use Coronavirus as the get out of jail free card.
Thank you for all the support, it seems only time and the lack of support which will naturally come from no local resources that will Make Wood Green realise their error.
