Wolvehampton is the home of many passionate skateboarders, BMXers, scooterers and rollerbladers, with some reaching a sponsorship level. We have noticed the amount of modern concrete parks popping up over the country and feel one is much needed in Wolverhampton as the main park (Penn Island) faces an unknown future and may face closure.

It was built around 10 years ago but has become outdated with the rising popularing and advancements in skateboarding and we feel that now is a good time to get a new park. Penn Island has also become an area for anti-social behavior due to its inner city location and the fact its situated within a roundabout, instead of an open space.

The council frequently spend money within the area by building new parks which are equally as bad, but they never consult the main users of the park and the money often becomes wasted because the parks are never used. Recently a park was build 15 minutes away at Wednesfield but as it was buillt by council contractors, not skatepark builders, the ramps have sunk down and it is beyond ideal.
