SEABIN for Wollongong Harbour - floating bin cleans up rubbish

At Wollongong Harbour today:
"Mummy, the fish can't be happy swimming with all that rubbish" said my 5 year old daughter with real distress in her tone and sadness in her eyes.
So we went home, grabbed a surfboard and got into the water to begin collecting all the floating debris. We pulled four large bags of rubbish from one corner of Wollongong Harbour in about 40 minutes.
Wollongong Harbour is always full of floating plastics, styrofoam, straws and all sort of other forms of rubbish. This is unacceptable.
There is a simple, innovative technology that has been pioneered here in Australia. The SEABIN is a floating bin that sucks in rubbish from the surface of the water.
We would like to see Wollongong be the FIRST HARBOUR IN AUSTRALIA to take advantage of this incredible, new technology to keep our harbour clean at all times.
For locals and tourists - we all want clean a harbour.
No one wants to see the anguish in a child's face as they witness the lack of care we show towards our beautiful marine environment. We are blessed to live in a spectacularly beautiful corner of the world and should honour and respect nature as it deserves.
