Make Graz'zt beautiful again
The Issue
Please don't get me wrong. I appreciate the work of the illustrator who drew the latest image of Graz'zt. But this Graz'zt is not beautiful, contrary to what its description in "Out of the Abyss" suggests. Well, let me tell you clearly, in my opinion the current Graz'zt is simply ugly, which is definitely at odds with its official description. Graz'zt in previous editions was really handsome, you can notice it for example in the works of Wayne Raynolds or the drawings of fans. The present-day Graz'zt has no green, burning eyes, only white, empty and indifferent. His face is too angular and emaciated, so the shape of the skull does not resemble a human at all, unlike in previous editions. He seems to have no eyebrows, and I guess most people would agree with me that it's hard to be attractive without eyebrows. At the same time, I associate the hairstyle with someone whose hair is standing on end and the Joker from Arkham games. I miss the characteristic strands falling on his forehead and the horns that are partially hidden in his hair. The skin is definitely NOT black, only purple. Tattoos... Well, I don't really understand their purpose and I think Graz'zt looks better without them, but I can still accept them. But that goatee. It is terrible. Graz'zt with her resembles the stereotypical devil who always has a goattee, tarry black hair and intense red skin. It looks silly. Graz'zt had no facial hair in previous editions and that was good. The one from the 5e... Well, it doesn't look good.
I'm not saying that Wizards improve his image in future "Out of the Abyss" or "Tasha's Cauldron of Everything" releases. But at least in the next manuals, supplements, and EVERYWHERE where the image of Graz'zt would appear in the future, it would be really nice if it was similar to the older editions (like 3e and 3.5e). I guess that the 5e isn't meant to be a complete D&D reboot turning everything upside down, rather tweaking what needs tweaking and adding new stuff. But if something is already good... why change it?
