We’d like to respond directly to Mr Evans’s recent public statement on this petition. His comment suggests that the petition was launched to cause reputational harm, and that it stems from one individual's grievance. That is incorrect.  

This petition is supported by 11 of the 13 households on Northfield Estate. One household did not attend the last residents’ meeting, and another has recently moved in — we do not yet have their contact details.  

The petition reflects shared and documented concerns about incomplete infrastructure, not personal conflict. Further signatures have come from neighbouring communities and bordering authorities who support calls for accountability.  The petition now stands at 207 signatures.

Unfinished Infrastructure Roads, driveways, footpaths, junction surfacing, and street lighting remain incomplete. 

Planning Officer @ NEDDC has confirmed that private driveways are part of the approved planning scope. 

The final house at Northfield was completed in 2021.  Since then, residents have made numerous good-faith efforts to work collaboratively with Mr Evans to see the estate properly finished - unfortunately, these efforts were met with multiple missed deadlines and evasive replies 

Cross-Estate Collaboration - following ongoing delays, Northfield Residents began working in collaboration with some residents from two other Evolution Homes estates in North East Derbyshire, both of which also remain unfinished.  This petition represents a wider call for progress, not a personal grievance.

Missed Commitments and Delayed Timelines In February 2025, Mr Evans promised that driveways and street lighting would be finished by 1 August 2025. This is one of many failed promises — as of late July, no preparatory work has commenced, and the estate is not in a position to be completed. 

Infrastructure updates sent in June pledged action “next week” — no follow-up occurred.  

The newly stated deadline of 31 October 2025 was not voluntarily offered — it is the direct result of Northfield Residents putting pressure on Mr Evans and the planning department, who remain actively invested in ensuring the development is completed to standard.  

Refusal to Commit On 30 June (08:28), Mr Evans advised residents: “I cannot make any commitments on the timings for the works at Northfield until I am confident that the action against me has ceased.”

Later that same day (18:08), in response to further queries:

“I’ve made my position clear… Please feel free to do whatever you need to do.”

It is these responses — not a single grievance — that prompted the petition.

Inappropriate Messages to the Northfield Residents email account 2 July:

“Get a life you sad clown! They aren’t going to take one bit of notice…” — a direct response to a formal planning objection submitted to Newark & Sherwood District Council 

8 July: “Hi Thanks for your email…I’m currently in Saint-Tropez taking a well-deserved break… Reading emails on the beach is just lame…” — a message claiming absence due to holiday, sent while continuing to conduct business and communications.  This comment found to be a direct misrepresentation of Mr Evan's where abouts and understood to be an antagonistic response. 

These emails were sent to residents raising legitimate concerns. They originate from the developer’s official business account and remain documented for planning review.
