We're up to 25 signers. There's a Washington Post editorial today about Modi's visit to DC It allows reader comment. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/06/17/biden-modi-washington-visit/
I made two separate comments including one that links to our petition. (See below) Urge you to make a comment. I'd like to see it. Email me at mail@thestruggle.org
My comments:
In what way is Modi's India a U.S. ally? It is directly breaking the appeal of Ukraine to boycott Russian oil. In fact it is hugely ramping up those purchases. The BBC reported that "In 2021 Russian oil accounted for just 2% of India's annual crude imports. That figure now stands at almost 20%, Bank of Baroda said." A June 2nd article on "Oil Price" says as of May of this year "Russian oil accounted for a massive 42% of all Indian crude imports". Reuters published an article headlined "Fuels from Russian oil gets backdoor entry into Europe via India" that Indian refined oil sold to Europe has gone up 30% because of India's access to cheap Russian oil.
We in the U.S. are sending $100 billion to Ukraine in weapons to help it defeat Russian aggression. How can we then honor a man undercutting the whole effort to isolate Russia economically? Is there some strategic brilliance here that I'm missing? I doubt the Ukrainians suffering under Putin's missiles would see it.
The invitation to Modi to speak to Congress on Thursday should be withdrawn.

There's a petition calling for the invitation to Modi to speak to Congress to be withdrawn. It's at https://www.change.org/p/withdraw-the-invitation-to-modi-to-speak-to-a-joint-session-of-congress
Readers should go to the site of Hindus for Human Rights to see their material exposing Modi. They'll be demonstrating against Modi in DC at noon on Thursday along a number of other groups concerned about what Modi has done to India.
