Here are documents showing that Herbert Kohler asked for a road easement in 1984 from the State of Wisconsin across this same property. At that time, Herbert Kohler wanted to build his home on the proposed golf course property and wanted an easement to the property across State land. You will see by these documents that the DNR said NO. The DNR stated it was a violation of Section 6 (f) of the Land and Water Conservation Fund Act(LAWCON.) The questions the DNR should be asking are “Why should we do this? What is the benefit to the public?” “Have all practical alternatives been evaluated and rejected?” Kohler Company does have the ability to access their land from the north thru River Trails, property which they own. Why do they need to take away trails from the pubic and destroy state land? Could it be that they do not want to ruin their property? Why won’t the DNR decline to consider a request for a private road easement on State land? Why won't the DNR allow for a Public hearing and give the public an opportunity to be heard on this issue? If it was a LAWCON violation in 1984, why is it not a LAWCON violation in 2014? Nothing has changed…except maybe the integrity of those in charge at the DNR. This entire request continues to become more troubling as we "uncover" more information.
