On July 16, 2014, at a Public Hearing for Kohler Company’s proposed Golf Course in Sheboygan County, the Kohler Company stated that it was acceptable to steal away public land for their proposed Golf Course because: "This land was gifted to the State of Wisconsin in 1966 by Kohler Co.” What they failed to tell was that the 1966 deed contains a covenant running with the land which states: “The property herein conveyed and the area of which it becomes a part shall be used for state park and public recreational purposes.” The deed also states: The covenants hereafter stated have been created and agreed upon to protect the following mutual interests of the parties hereto; —To preserve the natural beauty of an unique area along the westerly shore of Lake Michigan. —To provide the people of the State of Wisconsin with an interesting and naturally beautiful recreational area. —To recognize the contributions to the conservation of Wisconsin’s natural resources made by John Michael Kohler and his family Almost 50 years later, they want their gift back? Please continue to share this petition. The Wisconsin DNR must understand that Wisconsin residents care about THEIR land.
