It is becoming increasingly clear that both the City of Winnipeg and the Province of Manitoba continue to collect more and more money from the general public through water bill hikes, hydro and gas increases, property taxes, and other fees—while wages remain among the lowest in Canada.

At the same time:

Public facilities and services are limited
Inflation is higher
Cost of living continues to rise
Ordinary people are being pushed further into financial stress
Despite all these facts, most people remain silent.

Right now, I feel like I am standing alone in this struggle.

I, Mazher Alam, started this petition to reverse the water bill hike and other unjust increases in Winnipeg because someone had to speak up. This fight is not for personal gain—it is for every household, every family, and every working person in Winnipeg and Manitoba.
