Dear Petition Supporters,

Victory!! Thank you for your signatures. Due to your support, the Windham Town Board retracted the flawed draft Short Term Rental Law at their Dec. 10th meeting. The law contained many unfair and unfriendly provisions including: 1) limiting total short-term rentals to only 150 homes, 2) placing a cap on the nights rented per year to only 100, 3) restricting the number of cars for visitors to one per bedroom 4) requiring hosts to collect personal data on each guest and maintain it in a log subject to police inspection at any time without a warrant, 5) prohibiting fires of any kind after 10:00pm at night. It contained other unfair language - too many items to list out!

If you care about Windham and are a local resident, business owner or property owner we urge you to get involved with the Windham Area Stakeholders Association. The mission of the association is simple - to Keep Windham Friendly by making it a wonderful place to live and work while maintaining the Town's status as a premier 4 season/ski destination town.

Due in part to the advocacy and legal efforts of the Windham Area Stakeholders Association and your petition signing, the proposed draft short term rental law was withdrawn and defeated for the time being. However, the Town Board has signaled that they intend to bring this law back within the next 6 months.
