What a surprise... not.

I’ve been reporting this since 2021 to multiple agencies in Virginia, and not one of them has responded beyond the usual deflection of responsibility  "Oh, well report it to this agency, not us".  In the end, it is quite evident none of them truly care.  I guess it wasn't violent enough for the illegality of it to register, or perhaps, it lends itself to a broader question: do we live in such a morally depraved society that it doesn't register with people who COULD do something about it because they themselves are guilty of similar behaviors when "not on the clock?"

Makes ya wonder.

It’s beyond frustrating — why do institutions like Williamsville Wellness continue to get away with violating basic human rights, let alone patient safety?

I entered Williamsville with the hope of getting better and reconnecting with my family. The last thing I needed was to be manipulated by an older male staff member — who had just been released from prison — sending me inappropriate texts while I was in a vulnerable state and long after I had left. His behavior was predatory and disturbing, and instead of protecting me, Williamsville’s response was to ignore the issue, pretend it didn’t happen, and kick me out for “group tardiness” — even though I hadn’t completed treatment.

This is gross negligence.

This is covert abuse in absentia.

When I sent them the texts and asked for accountability, they called me to say, “We fired him.” That’s it.

No apology.

No proof.

No formal documentation. Just a cover-up to avoid responsibility.

As if I was the problem or inconvenience just for bringing it up in the first place.

Let’s be clear: this type of gaslighting, minimization, and silencing of survivors is deeply harmful and far too common.

The Science is Clear: This Causes Long-Term Harm

According to psychological and clinical research:

⤷Survivors of sexual misconduct and grooming behavior, especially in care settings, often suffer from long-term PTSD, shame, and self-doubt.

⤷Being gaslit or blamed after reporting abuse can lead to worsened mental health outcomes, including suicidality, relapse, and isolation.

⤷People recovering from addiction are often considered to be in a disability-protected class, especially when in mental health crises or treatment. They are legally and ethically entitled to a safe, non-exploitative environment.

⤷When institutions fail to act on predatory behavior and instead punish the victims, they’re not just unethical — they’re part of the cycle of abuse.

If you’ve had similar experiences at Williamsville or another treatment center, you are not alone, and you deserve to be heard. Keep sharing, keep reporting, and don’t let them silence us.

Thank you to everyone supporting this petition. The fight for patient safety is far from over.
