Here's what we can expect at the UDRB (Urban Design Review Board) meeting on Monday, Nov 17 at 4 pm: The public will be permitted to speak after staff gives their presentation and then the applicant answers questions and responds to staffs report. Each speaker will be permitted no more than 5 minutes. The capacity is 150-200 depending on if people are sitting or standing. You will be able to get into the room starting at 3pm. Anyone is allowed to speak. It is a public hearing. Those wishing to speak will need to sign in at the beginning of the meeting or when they come in. A decision should be made at that meeting. If the UDRB feels they do not have enough information/testimony/evidence they are permitted to table it until their next meeting. But they are required to make a decision within 60 days of an application being submitted, which was Oct 22. If the UDRB votes to approve demolition, Columbia Sussex would be allowed to begin as soon as the certificate of appropriateness and zoning permits are issued the following day. If the UDRB votes to deny demolition, the applicant would be permitted to appeal the decision to City Commission within 30 days of the UDRB meeting. It would then be scheduled for most likely the first City Commission meeting on January 6. If the City Commission upholds the UDRB decision to deny demolition it can then be appealed to Circuit Court.
