Co. Wicklow has no regular bus routes linking our towns together. Currently, most regular bus routes are to Dublin. Wicklow needs a regular, high-quality bus transport service linking our towns and villages, enabling our businesses to thrive and our communities to connect.

Over the last number of months, I have teamed up with Wicklow Tourism and Local Link (an organisation set up to provide quality community-based public transport) to develop a number of local bus routes that we hope the National Transport Authority will fund. Local stakeholders and town teams were also involved in developing the proposals.

3 initial routes have been put forward for funding (7-day per week, hourly bus service):

• Wicklow Town to Glendalough (via Rathnew, Ashford & Roundwood);
• Greystones Dart to Roundwood (via Kilcoole & Newtownmountkennedy);
• Loop of Greystones DART, Delgany, Blacklion & Charlesland.

I believe these bus services would be game-changers for our local communities and town centres.
