Event with Juno Award-winner raised $278,000 (CAD $350,000) for the effort to provide Ukrainian Freedom Fighters with much-needed supplies

Grammy- and Juno Award-winning singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk staged a special benefit on March 28th to support the #UniteWithUkraine campaign. 

A platinum-selling, three-time Juno Award-winning artist and Order of Canada recipient from Winnipeg, Ms. Kreviazuk has Ukrainian roots. Her great-grandparents fled Ukraine and the Soviet regime of Joseph Stalin, coming to Canada and settling in rural Manitoba. 

The benefit event raised $350,000 for #UniteWithUkraine, an initiative of Ukrainian World Congress to build the world’s largest crowd-funding campaign. 

It is an effort to support the freedom fighters on the frontlines in Ukraine with critical equipment like boots, bullet-proof vests, helmets, night-vision goggles and communications devices. The campaign has raised USD 18 million (CAD 22 million) so far.

This is NOT ENOUGH:

Winnipeg based Buhler Industries has accepted the resignation of one of its Russian directors.

Konstantin Babkin submitted his resignation to the board of directors on Wednesday following support he has shown toward the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Mr. Babkin has been a vocal supporter of the actions taken by the Russian Federation. These views are in stark contrast to those of the North American executive team and do not reflect the position or values of Buhler Industries," the company said in a release.

Babkin has been replaced by Adam Reid who is the vice president of sales and marketing.

Not good enough… all the Russians at Buhler have to go and their stocks sold.
