RE: Need your help ASAP to prevent Gafni's next move
May 4, 2016 — Dear Change.org petitioners,
I need your help today to prevent the next reinvention of Marc Gafni. It is taking the form of the RiseUp movie, which is building from his Success 3.0 conference in 2014, and using the footage from many respected speakers to enroll other leaders in the film.
There's a new HuffingtonPost piece today that blows the cover on the fact that this is Gafni's movie along with other major deceptions, including their use of Arianna Huffington's name as a headliner without her knowledge or consent.
You can read this here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/stephen-h-dinan/boycott-marc-gafnis-movie_b_9829656.html
Gafni's team have launched a fundraising campaign at Generosity and raised over $300k so far (although $275K of it was from 6 funders, so they created more of the illusion of a grassroots success).
Many people in the movie have no idea that it is Gafni's creation and that he will likely benefit the most from it.
So my request is that TODAY you help prevent future damage by writing an email via the contact forms on website (http://riseupthemovie.com/people ) to any of the leaders listed that you know who are listed as backers of the film (which you can find here), saying something like the following (adapt into your own words):
RE: URGENT - please stay out of RiseUp film
Out of great respect for you and work, I urge you to NOT appear in, support, or promote the RiseUp movie in any way.
It is has been written, co-produced, and co-directed by Marc Gafni, who is shielding his role for the purpose of fundraising and enrolling leaders.
Today's article at the HuffingtonPost makes this deception clear:
More than 100 top rabbis and 3500 signatories, including myself, came together in a Change.org petition in December-January to give an urgent warning of the danger this man poses and the terrible history he has left behind him.
There have been more than 40 public articles about him in the last four months, including in the New York Times, HuffingtonPost, Alternet, Forward, Tablet, New York Daily News, Jewish Week, Times of Israel. An article in HuffingtonPost called him a "New Age Cosby."
I implore you to take seriously our collective warning and pull out of being in his film.
I have personal experience of Marc Gafni.....(if you have direct experience)
It is clear from the past that he uses vehicles such as this new movie to hide behind, gain credibility, then start taking advantage of others again. Effectively, if you are in the film, you will be helping him in his latest reinvention.
As you can see from the Change.org petition, there are vast numbers of people who have been betrayed, abused, or taken advantage of by this man.
I urge you not to put your good reputation behind this film and to pull out now.
